It's not what a copywriter says. It's what he whispers.

The product of a conventionally dull middle-class childhood in 70s south London and a grisly public school education, I’ve been copywriting since sick meant to feel unwell and a tablet was something you took to stop feeling sick. Since then, I’ve taken a circuitous route to become one of the UK’s most experienced freelance copywriters.

After studying journalism at The London College of Printing, I made my way to Wapping and the sports desk at The News of the World. Two years of watching goalless draws on cold, rain-soaked Monday nights and I started to run out of ways to describe ‘schoolboy defending’ and ‘six-pointer’.

I joined The Mirror as music correspondent but while my LP collection swelled, I remained restless. A spell in Government communications followed, before speech writing for John Prescott began to take its toll. Determined to find whatever it was I was looking for, I moved out of London and became a freelance copywriter.

Since then I’ve provided a freelance copywriting service to businesses throughout the UK and other parts of the world. As a freelance copywriter I’ve supplied words that have helped start-ups and some of the best-known brands define their messages, tell their stories and sell their products and services. I am a member of ProCopywriters and a creative cohort of Blurred, the global strategy and creative advisory firm.

You can find out more about what I do, who I’ve done it for, why they chose me. what I did and how I did it.
